Pantone of the Year 2021: Illuminating and Ultimate Gray
Everyone knows that the first week of December Pantone announces that color that will haunt our projects and clog the timelines of our social networks. So every year we live this moment with a bit of anxiety and a bit of curiosity, trying to predict what Pantone’s choice will be regarding the Color of the Year.
The trends of 2021 reflect a bit the period we lived, when we all loudly told each other to stay united but at a distance. So, to give us strength and to communicate the sense of being together, Pantone took care of it, with the choice of Illuminating and Ultimate Gray.
Two colors that, taken individually, I love very much – you know that yellow is one of my passions – and that when combined together give me a pleasant sense of harmony.
Many have turned up their noses, but they are the ones who have done it every year. When Pantone chose Classic Blue last year, when in 2019 the color of the year was Living Coral, etc.
Why Illuminating and Ultimate Gray for 2021?
For a year like this, one color is not enough, two are needed. It is a good omen, it is a sign of strength, of recovery, it shines and brings brio. Maybe I would have chosen just one color but I fully approve this choice.
