Original pieces of work surround us, pieces rich in history, pieces projected into the future, and then however, there are others that are closely related to the present. Then there are products which have a bit of all these of these features. These are true works of art, small pieces tied to timeless design history, real must-haves for those of us who love a sophisticated and unique decor.
The #musthave of the day are the Up5 and Up6 armchairs by Gaetano Pesce
These are part of a series (ranging from UP1 to UP7) that was designed and produced in 1969 and repurposed in 2000.
The MoMA in New York, the Triennale Design Museum, are among the great museums which include these beautiful pieces in their collections. This combination is, in fact, recognized as a symbol of the Italian design world, the radical and interior design of the 60s and 70s.
UP5 is a product that owes its fame to the expressiveness of its shapes, it’s a metaphor for the softness of the female figure, characterized by a cozy womb, but at the same time a prisoner. A creative productive path that, according to Gaetano Pesce, was born from an artistic experimentation, as often happened in his career. According to him, design was one of the many ways available to men to communicate and express themselves.
UPs are made of polyurethane and covered with fabric available in different colors.
I paid more attention to the UP series because I was really fascinated by it from the very beginning. It’s pieces are, in my opinion, bold, timeless, and they speak for the high-quality design. They are perfect if you want to add a touch of history, culture, and beauty to your rooms.

What do you think of this first #musthave hashtag that I have decided to propose? Do you agree with me or do feel like you have some advice you could share with me? If you already have a home UP, send me a picture of it! 🙂 I’m curious to see where you decided to put it in your interior!
