Meleto Castle in Tuscany, from a military stronghold to a deluxe stay

|

The Meleto Castle is today a tourist location enriched by a winery inside. Architecturally, the Castle dates back to 1256, for a long period it was the scene of numerous wars between the Guelphs and Ghibellines, mainly due to its position on the border between Siena and Florence.

Walking through its spaces, both internal and external, makes you feel immersed in history. It’s located in Gaiole in Chianti, Tuscany (in the middle of Italy), on a hill that allows it to dominate all the greenery of the Chianti countryside.

The amazing Meleto Castle

The shape of the castle is purely military and the interiors are still enriched with eighteenth-century paintings. From a military stronghold it has become a destination for deluxe stays in Tuscany, with the pride of unspoiled nature and an area full of history.

Meleto Castle in Gaiole has 160 hectares of land to vinify exclusively its own grapes. In addition to the cellar, the Castle also has a small theater dating back to the first half of the 1700s – the Teatro degli Accesi – in light colors, still used today for small performances.
