The restaurant Liza Beirut in Lebanon

|

Here I want to speak about restaurant interior, which, I confess, is one of the things I like the most. A restaurant, different than a private house, where you have the chance to experience it firsthand: you can visit, you can become a loyal customer, you can fully enjoy the atmosphere.

I like to think that in the future you will go places you didn’t know before, and maybe it will even be a place you’ve discovered here on this blog.

The place I want to show today is Liza Beirut in Lebanon, a branch of the quoted Liza Paris.

The restaurant, owned by Liza Soughayar, is on the ground floor of Abdallah Bustros Palace, a nineteenth-century building that now is home to the Metropolitan Art Society.

The Liza Beirut, in the arrangement of beautiful interiors, is characterized by a division of four rooms, the most important being the main hall, called Dar, which is arranged around the other three rooms.

The space division is entrusted to the beautiful Moorish-style windows, excellently characterizing the environment.

A total of about 500 square meters, a ceiling height of 7 meters, and lit walls. The walls are another distinctive feature of the local: according to the interior project decorator, Idarica Gazzoni, they were completely covered with wallpaper. They also wanted to have a visually-important aesthetic effect, continuing with the same material that would cover the entire local.

Each wall decoration was made by measure. They range from reproductions of the tiles with Arabic motifs that recalled those left on the floor, to plant representations.

Each of the four rooms, has an illustrated history on its walls. We have the Main Room, the Money Room, the Banana Room and Building Room.

With an environment this important, the interior design project by Maria Ousseimi followed a simple and discreet line.

They are furnishings, large marble tables, and reproductions of the famous Eero Saarinen Tulip table. The chairs are covered in leather and inlaid wood; the lamps and other accessories are all made of metal.

The Liza Beirut is place that is cozy, yet cosmopolitan, offering health, innovation, and care, often reinventing old recipes from the past and present.

The advice I give to many, and I can’t help but give to you, is to go to Liza at nightfall, when the Middle East soft light gives the whole environment a dimension uniquely suggestive.
