“Il lustro (luster)” is an artisan process that gives us shiny and mirrored metal finishes, giving us the glamorous and elegant touch that we like so much!
THE TECHNIC
From a technical point of view, I can say that “il lustro” is obtained by applying a metal-based dough on the surface of a ceramic product that is already cooked and decorated, which is then baked again. This cooking process is done in an oxygen-free atmosphere to make the metal salts turn into pure metals, and the particles are incorporated into the enamel, softened by heat, thus causing this polished effect.
